I found this website on the internet, and was thrilled to have another source of geneology to work with. However, the last time anything was entered on my family must have been over 30 years ago, as it only shows four of our seven children. Currently, they are all grown, married and have their own families. I would like to update the information, but I am having a VERY difficult time adding children, marriage partners, or make any changes! Every time I try, it asks for the "NUMBER" of that person or says that the person doesn't exist. Of course there IS NO NUMBER for a NEW person that I am adding. So, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??
To edit the individuals
1. Click on that persons page (I check to see if that person's information is at the top it should say "Individual - Name - ID#")
2. Click "Edit this Person"
3. Change/Add the information
4. Type in the security code at the bottom
5. Click Save Changes at the bottom
To add people (individuals) - you must have individuals created and saved before you can join them in a marriage or family.
1. Click "add individual" (at the top in Blue)
2. Type in all the information
3. Type in the security code at the bottom
4. Click Save Changes at the bottom
Once you add them, they're given a number and you can use that in a family
To join individuals in a marriage or family
(The main idea here is to "Add Family" give them a family name and type in all the numbers of the individuals you want joined, remember the numbers are found at the top of the individuals page - "Individual - Name - ID#")
1. Click "add family" (at the top in Blue)
2. Type in the family name
3. Type in the spouse Individual Numbers
4. Type in the children Individual Numbers
5. Type in other information
6. Type in the security code at the bottom
7. Click Save Changes at the bottom
To edit a family
1. Click on the family, it should say "Family - Name - ID#" at the top of the page
2. Click "edit this family"
3. Edit/change/add the info (mostly individual ID#'s)
4. Type in other information
5. Type in the security code at the bottom
6. Click Save Changes at the bottom
I did notice a handy feature - the quicklist. Once I add a person to the quicklist I can click "use" and it fills that person's ID # into the spouse/children fields - this way I don't have to spend time writing down and keeping track of the names/numbers.
